Basic Information

Name: Yukiko Shiro, "Snow White"

Age: Human: 15; Spirit: 108

Gender: Female

Division: 6th

Seat: Vice Captain

Looks:

Yukiko has extremely light locks of brown, almost appearing white, that reach far past her shoulders. Complimented by her radiant hair are her piercing sapphire eyes. Her complexion is quite fair, but some might say she is pale. If she isn’t wearing the usual Shinigami attire, she can be found wearing white or black robes most of the time, but she occasionally wears a kimono of beautiful designs. Either way, she is almost always carrying her Zanpakuto, Hitori, at her side.

She is very petite, almost like a doll. Yukiko isn’t all that tall, only reaching about 5’2”. Her expression is normally blank, for she doesn’t show much emotion when around unfamiliar people. A smile isn’t rare to find on her face, especially when she is accompanied by people she enjoys. She is normally found sitting alone, staring off at the clouds or stars, whatever the scenery might be. When she isn’t on duty, she likes the peace and quiet of being alone.

Shiro, Yukiko[APPROVED] - John Yukiko

Personality:

Yukiko is the shy and quiet type, only speaking when needed to and occasionally making a conversation. If she isn’t with people she knows, her silence is as if she doesn’t even exist. She isn’t as emotionless as people claim her to be, she just doesn’t make her emotions noticeable. She can be the loving and caring type, compassionate toward others. On the other hand, she can be just as cold at times.

She doesn’t try to pass as cruel or harsh, but she tends to be too serious some days. Yukiko takes her time at things. She believes that if she works at her own pace, then there are indeed better ending results. Her intelligence is a little more sufficient than others, making her quite the strategist. Like most of her youth, she likes to mess around, as long as she isn’t causing too much trouble.

Zanpakuto Information

Zanpakuto Name: Hitori

Zanpakuto Looks:

Shiro, Yukiko[APPROVED] - John Hitorikatana

Zanpakuto Description:

Other than the beautiful royal blue sheath of this Zanpakuto, Hitori just looks like your average katana. This sword doesn’t feel heavy at all in the hands of Yukiko, making it seem like a light blade, but it actually weighs as much as her. The only change Yukiko undergoes when her Zanpakuto is drawn is her slight increase in speed and amazingly powerful strikes with the blade. Her movements also become more graceful and silent.

Released Zanpakuto Description:

When Hitori is released, clouds gather, the temperature in the area drops dramatically, and a light snow begins to falls. Yukiko is accustom to the cold, so isn’t affected, and she can manipulate the snow with her Zanpakuto. To increase the speed and power of the snow, she may begin to thrust her blade in the desired direction with the amount of force she wants the snow to damage the opponent. Yukiko has quite the mental and spiritual connection with Hitori, making their relation mutual. As long as Yukiko is respectful to Hitori, he will do as she please without her having to say a thing.

The amount of snow and how hard it may fall is determined off of the mood or emotion of Yukiko. The more will power to fight Yukiko has in battle, the more effective her attacks will be. Normally, snow wouldn’t seem as much of a threat, but Yukiko has the ability to manipulate it into a needle-like form at will. Even when the snow isn’t needles, if the snow is hurled at the opponent with great speed and power, it will sting to say the least. When manipulate into needles, the opponent will feel as if they were being stabbed with thousands of swords at once. If a sense of hypothermia hadn’t rendered the opponent helpless or lifeless, this attack sure will.

Zanpakuto Release Phrase: “Come forth and shed your light, Hitori”

Zanpakuto Spirit:

The spirit within Yukiko’s Zanpakuto is Hitori, a dove and angel, Guardian of Peace and Light. When shown in his released from the Zanpakuto, he stays in the form of a dove. Though, when training and bonding with Yukiko, he takes on his angelic human form. He provides Yukiko guidance, whether she be training or making important decisions, as well as his wisdom. They both respect each other, and Hitori strives to help Yukiko in whatever way possible.

Bankai Information

Bankai Description:

When Yukiko uses her Bankai, Hitori lends her his wings, speed, and accuracy. With these descent sized wings, Yukiko is able to fly quite a bit, but they’re mostly used for gliding, increased speed, and aerial attacks. She can retract these wings to become speedier on ground, and equip then once again at will. Her accuracy becomes that of a bird, making her attacks more likely to hit. Along with speed comes evasion, so Yukiko is more likely to dodge an oncoming attack.

In this form, Yukiko is also now capable of manipulating her snow into ice arrows, making her snow attacks more effective. These arrows are much longer and sharper than her needles, making them look like miniature blades of ice. Although larger and less likely to hit the opponent than the thousands of ice needles, if they do hit, they do much more damage. Yukiko can also use her wings to stir up a snow flurry or blizzard, using the air current given off from her wings to manipulate the direction of the snow, needles, or arrows, making any one of her attacks more likely to strike down the opponent.

Along with Yukiko’s changes, her Zanpakuto changes some as well. Hitori takes on the form of an ice sword, becoming much sharper and causing frostbite at the touch of the blade. If the opponent is stricken down with Hitori in this state, they are likely to be missing limbs or having deep wounds as well as severe frost bite.

Kido Information

Binding Spells:

1. Restrain (塞, sai?) — Locks a target's arms in place behind their back.

4. Crawling Rope (這縄, hainawa?) — An energy rope entangles a target's arms.

39. Arc Shield (円閘扇, enkosen?) — Summons a shield of energy to block opponents' attacks.

58. Summoning of the Tracking Sparrows (摑趾追雀, kakushitsuijaku?) — Tracks and locates any spiritual force the user focuses on. To activate it, the user must draw a circle on the ground, cut into four parts with a specific character in each. The incantation animates the circle, causing various numbers to appear within until the specific set is found. The number set seems to be a variation on longitude and latitude. "Heart of the south, eye of the north, finger of the west, foot of the east, arrive with the wind and depart with the rain."

61. Six Rods Prison of Light (六杖光牢, rikujōkōrō?) — Summons six thin, but wide, beams of light that slam into a target's midsection, holding them in place. Referred to as "Six Rod Light Restraint" in the English manga and "Six Bars of Light" in some of the games. "Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six!"

81. Splitting Void (斷空, dankū?) — Creates an energy barrier in the form of a rectangular wall. According to Byakuya, it is capable of stopping destructive spells up to #89.

Destructive Spells:

1. Thrust (衝, shō?) — Pushes the target away from the caster.

4. White Lightning (白雷, byakurai?) — Fires a concentrated bolt of white lightning from the caster's forefinger.

88. Flying Dragon Striking, Heaven-Shaking, Lightning Cannon (飛竜撃賊震天雷砲, hiryūgekizokushintenraihō?) — Fires a massive blast of spiritual energy in a fashion similar to a laser.

Misc. Spells:

Mirror Door (鏡門, kyōmon?) — Tōshirō Hitsugaya used this to seal Momo Hinamori's hospital room. It creates a glass-like barrier which is difficult to break from the outside, but quite simple to break from the inside.

Reverse Demon (反鬼, hanki sosai?) — This technique nullifies an opponent's kidō by hitting them with a perfectly opposite surge of energy. Yoruichi uses this against Soifon's shunkō.

Spatial Displacement (空間転位, kūkanten'i?) — A forbidden spell used by Tessai with jikanteishi to teleport a specified portion of space from one point to another, transporting even other active kidō spells.

History

Human Arc:

Yukiko Shiro was born in the human world, daughter to Izumi Jakushou and Kouta Shiro. It was about a year after they had married, both were quite young. Her mother, Izumi, worked in the town grocery store during the afternoons. Her father, Kouta, was an important business man for a company that sold useful technology. After Yukiko was born, both would take days off to stay home and care for her. They wanted their daughter to be raised well mannered, but not too strict of a life at the same time.

When Yukiko was old enough, they enrolled her in a private school. In doing this, they hoped her to learn what she needed in a more controlled environment. She became quite the excellent student, accomplishing what her loving parents had wished. Her intelligence was definitely above normal, but her social skills lacked a bit due to her shyness. She wasn’t the most popular girl in school, but she made quite a few good friends. Their mothers would arrange play dates for them to get together, bonding for both the adults and children. Yukiko basically lived a normal childhood.

Sometime after her thirteenth birthday, Yukiko was struck ill. After a few weeks, her health still hadn’t restored. Her parents immediately worried and took her to a professional. Apparently Yukiko had a rare disease, and it had been dormant until now. The doctors first looked to genetics, but couldn’t find any trace of her ancestors having such a draw back. Soon after, a great commotion in finding the answers started. Doctors everywhere searched for an explanation for her sudden illness, as well as a cure. They took her out of school, hoping it would help. Not many people her age had the disease, which also struck them strange. Still, they carried on in their research.

Over the years, the disease got worse and worse. Her health had taken a dramatic plunge for the worst. Yukiko became weaker, always tired and finding it more difficult to walk on her own two feet. She stopped eating, only taking a few sips of water here and there, but all she wanted to do was sleep. Izumi and Kouta couldn’t stand it any longer, they wanted their daughter to live again. They couldn’t convince her to eat or drink, making them worry even more. There wasn’t much to think about, her health was becoming more and more critical, they had to take her to a hospital.

On the way to the hospital, traffic was horrible. Cars were stopped all over, there was nearly no way around it. The more they waited, the worse Yukiko’s health became. Finally, the roads began to clear some. As the light turned green, Kouta pushed the pedal ever so slightly and the car began to move forward. Not even seconds later, the car was totaled by a drunk driver in a larger vehicle. The drunk driver had very little injury, but was taken away in a police car for his misdeed. Yukiko had been in the seat on the same side as the driver, so her and her father took the most damage. Ambulances arrived at the scene, rushing Yukiko and her family to the ER.

That day, both Yukiko and Kouta Shiro died. Kouta had suffered major respiratory damage, causing his heart and brain to shut down. Yukiko had some major injuries, but none would have been as life threatening if it weren’t for her being ill. Izumi had suffered brain damage, causing her to go into a temporary coma. She woke six months later to find that she no longer had a family and because of her condition, she didn’t even make it to their funerals. The deaths of her beloved husband and daughter took its toll on the poor women, traumatizing her into depression.

Spirit Arc:

Yukiko’s spirit stuck around for quite some time, watching over her mother. She felt she owed her that much for all that she had done for her while she was living. In a way, Yukiko felt that the whole situation that fateful day was her fault. If she hadn’t been so ill, if she would have tried more, they would have never been in the area of that incident. As she stayed earth bound longer, the fact that she couldn’t be heard or seen started to eat at her. Izumi’s depression was getting much worse now, and Yukiko couldn’t do a thing in her position. It wasn’t long until Izumi completely gave up and committed suicide. She released the gas from the oven, then lit the stove. The ground shook at the explosion as she and her home burst to flames. Yukiko could only watch in horror.

Soon after the devastating event, Yukiko was recruited into the Soul Society by a man is dark robes. She was completely clueless when he spoke of the new world, but found no reason to decline his offer. She was useless here, wandering the earth as a weary spirit. According to the man, if she joined him, she could do so much more. From that day, he training as a Shinigami began. Since she was quite intelligent in school when it came to the human world, she thought that training would be simple. When she actually began, she found herself completely and utterly mistaken. Even so, that didn’t stop her from learning, excelling, and becoming stronger each day.

After many years of training, studying, and much more training, Yukiko became an official Shinigami. She was put in the 6th Division as a high ranking lieutenant, giving Yukiko the feeling of accomplishment. She took great pride in what she did, aiming for even higher ranks. Soon enough, she was seated Vice Captain of the 6th Division…
