GRAND FINAL!!! Koujetsu vs. Arthas

He was here. The final stage of the tournament. He had fought two battles to make it this far, against two very competent opponents, and could only wonder who his next opponent would be. He could only wonder right now, however, he had much confidence in his own abilities, and was sure that he could win, as long as he remained calm, and focused on his fight. Though Arthas was determined to win, he also wanted to enjoy this, his last fight against Kin had reminded him howe far the younger generation had progressed, and pherhaps his next opponent as well would also be a part of the generation of shinigami that would one day succeed him... But that day was not yet here, as Arthas had proven throughout his last few battles. He was grizzled, as a shinigami, but as a fighter he was in his prime. He had experience, and exceptional physical capabilities as well. For some reason, he hadn't aged a day since his arrival in soul society... Many of the others had, though at a slow rate, a year of age for every 20 or so years of life in the seireitei. His former friends had grown old, while his body remained unchanged. He had never fully understood why this was, but whatever the case, it felt rather odd to be so old in such a youthful form. All of these thoughts passed through Arthas' mind, as his metal boots stepped into the arena where he would face his final challenge, and hopefully claim victory in this tournament. His opponent was nowhere in site, as Arthas gazed around the vast, open grassland that was the stage for this final bout. His trained eyes didn't see any signs of any movement, nor did he sense any reaitsu which he took to mean that his opponent had yet to arrive. A light breezed swept up the field, and Arthas brushed a wisp of his auburn hair that got into his face off to the side. He waited, patiently waiting for his opponent to arrive.

Koujetsu walked slowly into the field, yawning as he did so. He knew that this was an important part of the tournament, bloody hell, it was the Final.

Rubbing his eyes, he looked around the field, before finally taking note of Arthas. He sighed, and slowly walked to the center of the field.

"Yo. Did I miss much?" he asked, still rubbing his eye. Whatever was irritating it would be detrimental during this fight, although he could easily just ignore the itch.

After much more rubbing, a piece of dirt fell away from the eye, and Koujetsu blinked in relief, before staring down Arthas. The armor was going to be a pain and half to get through, Koujetsu knew. Even with the wind around his blade, the armor would probably take a large majority of the damage, probably only scratching the skin at most. An incapacitating blow would be near impossible unless he used a few techniques to weaken the armor first.

Even so, this battle would take a toll on Koujetsu. He was going to refrain from using his bankai. This fight would last longer than he would, especially if his bankai was used.

Sighing again, Koujetsu unsheathed his Zanpaktou and bowed slightly at Arthas, before taking a defensive stance. He wouldnt release right yet.

Arthas stood up, smiling as his opponent finally arrived. His enemy seemed tired, but, knowing Koujetsu, Arthas knew that that wouldn't affect his opponent terribly much. He knew that these were the finals, and that he couldn't, under any circumstances, underestimate Koujetsu, surprised though he was that the man had made it this far... there had been several other higher ranking shinigami who had entered this grand tournament, including several captains... Yet a lieutenant had made it this far... It was almost uncanny... Keying Arthas into the fact that this man might be far more deadly than even he at first had surmised. Nevertheless, that didn't prevent Arthas from being cordial with his fellow officer. "Well good morning there, Koujetsu... You look tired." He said with a smile on his face. He drew his own zanpakutou in one fluid motion, the force of his pure spirit pressure creating a large wind, enough to easily blow the small nearby trees, causing them to strain with effort to stay rooted. "I hope you don't mind, I don't intend to go easy on you." He said with a smile, before casually crossing the field, moving at a walking pace, his blade resting on his shoulder. He decided to test Koujetsu out at first, to see what the lieutenants strengths, and weaknesses were, so he could get a better idea of how to play this fight. As he reached halfway, he burst into motion, rushing across the field at near shunpo speeds towards his opponent, aiming a blow to slice into the hole between koujetsu's second and third ribs.

Koujetsu blocked the blade, moving with the blow. He knew his strength wasnt good enough to fully stop that. Sighing, he released his own spiritual pressure, easily on par with Arthas's, and spun away from the blade, dodging around the tip.

Swinging around the side, Koujetsu put his hand on the back of the armor, not touching, but close enough, and used a bit of reiatsu, causing a force to be exterted on Arthas. Specifically, Koujetsu aimed for the knee, hoping to disrupt the balance a bit while he could think of a plan to fight this armored brute.

Backflipping away, and pausing at the tree, Koujetsu kept his reiatsu going, as flaring the reiatsu didnt actually waste any of it. Turning back and darting at Arthas, he focused on his sword, and shot for a gap in the armor around the shoulder. Hopefully he could score a hit.

Unlikely, but he could still hope. The armor prevented most physical attacks, and this man was like an ogre when it came to fighting. Except a smart one.

Arthas was indeed tripped by the force of koujetsu's motion, and was impressed, and caught ever so slightly offguard by the lieutenants fluidity and skill. He fell into a roll, kicking back up into a standing position, completely on guard, only to notice his opponent hadn't pressed the attack. At least, he didn't originally. Arthas had his back to Koujetsu, and the man charged for a gap in Arthas' armor. Unfortunately, though his opponent was indeed fast, his motions were rather obvious. Arthas twisted his wrist, turning the blade upside down, holding it over his back, parrying Koujetsu's blow with ease, before shoving his opponent away. He wasn't as strong as Arthas. But he was nimble, and fast. So in that case, Arthas had better use attacks with a higher degree of difficulty to dodge.... And less power, in order to gain as many hits in on his opponent as possible.... OR he thought, grinning, he could finish this fight in one almighty blast... But no, he would save that for later. He wanted to see just what koujetsu waas capable of. "Excellent, excellent. You dodge well." He didn't have any trouble in complimenting his opponent, especially one so skilled as Koujetsu. He would have to keep on his toes, if he wanted to win this fight. He figured that it would probably be better for him to let his opponent come to him... but still, he would try one more attack before resigning himself to that tactic. Shunpoing forward, toward Koujetsu he used one of his most advanced swordsman techniques. He appeared to be striking at his opponent from below and to the right, bringing his sword in an upward arc, but at the last second he shunpoed, leaving a mirror image in his place, as he struck down at Koujetsu from above and the left, so when he tried to dodge the apparent attack from below, the attack from above would hit him in the direction he moved.

Koujetsu raised his sword and parried Arthas's blow, before quickly dashing away, struggling under Arthas's strength. Rotating his shoulder, as the sheer force behind that blow was astounding. Grinning at Arthas, Koujetsu himself dashed in front of the giant, before jumping up, striking at the neck.

He allowed himself a slightly larger smirk, before disappearing himself, leaving an after image smirking at Arthas while Koujetsu appeared below and behind Arthas, using the same plan with a different twist this time.

Instead of pushing Arthas, Koujetsu actually reversed his reiatsu, pulling the giants leg to a locked position, while flipping upwards on one hand and kicking the opposite shoulder, disrupting balance again.

Instead of backing up this time though, Koujetsu gripped his Zanpaktou and struck at the spot between the plates of the armor quickly, before shunpoing away to a batter position. He rotated his arm again, and looked at him.

"Well now, I didnt know you liked the same technique I did."

((OOC: how did you know that i used mirror image, and that the clone attacking you from the front wasnt the real me? Mirror Image: A master sword skill, which allows the user to continually strike at the opponent, but at the same time leave an afterimage for the opponents eyes, disorienting them. You dont have this tech on your char...))

((Used it multiple times before due to my speed. For a fast person, mirror image is easily obtainable and not really a tech for me. I just move faster than the light can finish reflecting off where my body was. As such, I can recognize mirror images. Its a speed attribute for me, not a technique))

((OOC: Thing is, youre not THAT fast. if you were like, 65 sure, but youre at 40, which is high, but not high enough to do that constantly IMO... you want to play it that way, anyone with speed 40+ can use it -_-. Furthermore, i think being able to follow my movements is an accuracy thing, not a speed thing. but. w/e I'll roll with it))

Kojetsu's speed was truely, truely remarkable. However, what he had in speed, he lost in imagination. Trying to use Arthas' own technique against him was futile. His attempt to throw Arthas off balance again was futile, as Arthas had stabilized his own so that the Koujetsu's force merely rolled off him. He shifted his shoulder slightly, and let Koujetsu's light attack clang off his armor, instead of hitting the crack he was aiming for. Arthas decided it was time to give the man a real test... he just hoped that there were some remains of Koujetsu left after he completed his technique. "Not bad. Your speed is impressive. So why dont we try something a bit harder to dodge then, eh." He held up 2 fingers, pointing directly towards the man, as he began to murmur an incantation: " Heaven’s fury comes crashing forth, god’s anger is shown. Beads of sweat emerge of the stars as the heavens and earth alike tremble before the untimely wrath of creation and destruction alike, and the universe cries out as its power collides into a single divine point. Hadou number 96, Heavenly Grenade!" As he muttered the icantation his eyes remained trained on Koujetsu's location, his fingers gesturing rapidly around him. 20 lights appeared, which grew into balls of glowing yellow reaitsu, surrounding Koujetsu from all sides. "Dodge This!" he roared, as he clenched his fist, and the engeries shot at Koujetsu from all sides.

Koujetsu's eyes widened as the points of rieatsu formed around him. Looking around, he counted around 20 balls, and groaned. He looked back at Arthas.

"Well, sh-" At that point, Koujetsu decided it would be more beneficial to his health to run, as the reiatsu orbs flew at him from every direction. Using Shunpo, Koujetsu jumped out of the middle of the minefield, but mis judged his distance. An explosion caught him at mid thigh, flinging him off to the side.

Cursing his luck, Koujetsu poured on all his speed, and dashed behind Arthas, getting knocked around 3 more times, and almost losing his arm, if it wasnt for his relfexes.

Pointing his Zanpaktou, using his left arm to brace his broken right arm, at the the incoming mass of homing reiatsu, Koujetsu didnt even bother with his release phrase, deciding that wasting time was not a good idea at the speed those things were moving.

A weak Uzumaki shot out of his now claymore, and a larger, faster one formed. Firing a Tenshi uzumaki at the mass, Koujetsu cursed as one managed to hit him from behind, throwing him into the few that escaped the explosion, and causing him to be trapped in a second explosion.

Once the dust cleared, Koujetsu wobbled, still standing up. Blood and wounds were scattered across his body, his clothes torn and his Zanpaktou back into its normal state.

Slowly, carefully, he wobbled over to the Captain, holding something white in his hand, looking like a truce flag. As he reached Arthas, he weakly raised his hand, and slapped Arthas across the face with a bloody and sweaty sock. Letting go, he left the sock hanging on Arthas's face as he crumpled to the ground, succumbing to unconciousness.
